macOS 10.13 High Sierra Update

On Monday, September 25, Apple will release macOS 10.13 “High Sierra” via the Mac App Store. Part of this update includes a new file system, Apple File System, and it will automatically convert your startup drive to this format if you have a newer Mac with a Solid State Drive. At this time there are no third party tools for repairing or recovering data from these volumes. The Information Technology department will also be performing tests to confirm that supported services are working as designed with this new update. At this time, we are recommending that the campus community hold off on this upgrade until those services you use have been tested. The Information Technology department will continue to communicate with the campus community by the end of this Fall semester to keep you updated on that progress.

When will I be able to upgrade?
After the MSUM IT department has completed its testing and confirmed that those services and applications are working as designed, we will send a communication out informing of that.

What if I don’t know how to upgrade?
The communication informing of the completion of the testing will also include information on how you can contact the Helpdesk to start that process.
