Arrests made in textbook thefts
Two Houston, Tex., men have been taken into custody on burglary charges related to textbook thefts from several university campuses. In February, two individuals were caught on video by security cameras inside the MSUM Center for Business where several textbooks were reported missing from locked offices.
The individuals were identified by the University of Wisconsin Green Bay Police after more than 60 textbooks valued at more than $12,000 were taken from that campus. Other campuses hit include UW-River Falls, UW-Stout, and NDSU. According to a UW-Green Bay news release, one of the suspects was surrounded by thousands of textbooks and in the process of selling them online when taken into custody.
“MSUM Public Safety provided our security video to UW-Green Bay investigators,” said MSUM Public Safety Director James Schumann. “The video helped them identify both suspects and their vehicle.”
