Clarence Glasrud Lecture Series: Madelon Sprengnether

Author Madelon Sprengnether has been selected for guest speaker for the Clarence “Soc” Glasrud Lecture Series. On Wednesday, April 5, Sprengnether will provide a lecture at 4 p.m. followed by a creative reading at 7:30 p.m. Both will take place on the Minnesota State University Moorhead campus in the Livingston Lord Library Porch. This event is free and open to the public. 

Madelon Sprengnether, a poet, memoirist and literary critic, is Regents Professor of English at the University of Minnesota. She is the author of three books of poetry, The Normal Heart, The Angel of Duluth, and Near Solstice, three memoirs, Rivers, Stories, Houses, Dreams, Crying at the Movies, and Great River Road, in addition to numerous essays and books of literary criticism. She is the recipient of awards from the Loft Literary Center, the Bush Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. She is currently working on a book about Freud, another memoir and a new collection of prose poems.

The Clarence Glasrud Lecture and Reading Series is an annual endowed lecture in the name of Clarence “Soc” Glasrud. Established in 1991 and supported by contributions from faculty, staff and friends, the lecture features speakers who can challenge the minds of people and have the potential to improve society.
