150 works of art dropped, found on MSUM Art Drop Day

On March 29, 2017, Art 498 Exhibition organized MSUM’s first Art Drop Day — a social media scavenger hunt for art.

Artists of all mediums were invited to “drop” their artwork at a location on campus, and post an image on Instagram with the #MSUMArtDrop. Students following the hashtag were able to “find” the artwork. Whoever found the artwork first, kept the piece. The finder posted an image of themselves with their new artwork which alerted everyone who was searching for the piece, that the art had been found. It is estimated that 150 works of art were dropped on Art Drop Day. The event allowed participants to acquire works of art by students and faculty at MSUM, and highlighted the high quality of the work that is produced at MSUM.
