MSUM Spring enrollment sees increases
Significant Gains in Graduate, International and New Undergraduates
Thirty-day figures released this week show MSUM’s enrollment for new entering graduate students continues to grow with a 25% increase over last spring, with new entering domestic undergraduate students up 10.3%, and new entering international students up 19%. Overall total headcount for undergraduate and graduate students is up 1.6%.
The record enrollment of graduate students is attributed to the strength and value in the masters programs. The new 18 Online initiative to assist high school teachers in maintaining qualification for teaching concurrent enrollment classes has also seen explosive growth.
“The strength and experience of our graduate faculty is what makes our graduate programs so strong,” said MSU Moorhead Director of Graduate Studies Dr. Lisa Karch. “The one-on-one attention and faculty-student relationship really provide a mentorship type environment that helps our students advance in their professional careers which is a factor in our growth.”
Undergraduate enrollment growth is attributed to refocusing efforts to strengthen partnerships with high schools in the region and working to offer a smooth transition for transfer students.
