Dragons senior Lien set to play in Division II men’s all-star game, Inforum: “Minnesota State Moorhead senior Aaron Lien has been named to the Reese’s Division II College All-Star game, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced Monday, March 20.”
New editor selected to lead Agweek, WDAZ: “For Leah Larson, agriculture is a way of of life, both personally and professionally … Larson, a Finley, N.D. farm girl who has spent 19 years working for area agribusinesses, has been named Agweek editor … Larson earned a mass communications degree from Minnesota State University-Moorhead.”
Women on a roll: Female directors dominate at Fargo Film Festival, Inforum: “The Fargo Film Festival doesn’t have themes, but if it did, 2017 might be ‘The Year of the Woman.’ Out of the eight category winners this year, six were from female directors. In comparison, only two categories were won by women directors in 2016, none in 2015 and three in 2014 … Emily Beck (MSUM alumna), executive director of the Fargo Theatre, which hosts the annual event, is encouraged by the strong showing of women artists.”
Sannes earns All-American honorable mention honors, Inforum: “Minnesota State Moorhead junior Drew Sannes has been named Division II All-American honorable mention by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.”
Fargo’s Carlson receives film fest honors, Inforum: “As a member of the Fargo Film Festival’s executive committee and a longtime participant and organizer with the event, Greg Carlson is used to suggesting nominations for the Ted M. Larson Award … The honor is the festival’s equivalent of a lifetime achievement award for someone who has made an impact on filmmaking or film culture. Larson was a film teacher at MSUM for 32 years and film scholar whose work led to the Fargo Film Festival … Carlson is the third former MSUM student of Larson’s to win the award, following Rusty Casselton in ’08 and Dave Filipi in ’11.”
Dragons senior Lien caps career at Reese’s Division II All-Star game, Inforum: “Minnesota State Moorhead senior Aaron Lien scored two points in 16 minutes Friday, March 24, in the Reese’s Division II men’s basketball all-star game at the Sanford Pentagon.”
