Make a difference, gain experience—volunteer at VITA today

Are you pretty good with numbers? Would you enjoy helping others in your community? Do you need something on your resume that will make you stand out above others? Do you need to develop your interpersonal communication skills? How would you like to have an experience that just might change your life?

Once again, MSUM is helping recruit volunteers for this year’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site at Lakes & Prairies Community Action Partnership. No experience required.

The VITA site will provide a fun and effective teamwork setting for you to make a difference! Last year, 32 MSUM students made a huge difference by serving a combined total of 673 hours at the site.

All VITA volunteers must complete certification tests each year before serving. The tests you will need to complete will depend upon the level of service you want to provide. Lakes & Prairies Community Action will be offering optional training sessions on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, January 17
  • Wednesday, January 18
  • Tuesday January 24

Each training session will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Family Service Center, located at 715 11th Street North in Moorhead.

To volunteer or to obtain more information, contact Robin Christianson robinc@lakesandprairies.net or (218) 512-1559. Robin will be in MSUM Center for Business Atrium on Wednesday, Jan. 11, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., to answer your questions. For more information, you can also contact Kim Mollberg mollberg@mnstate.edu.
