Unsilent Night
Caroling for the Digital Age
Friday, Dec. 2 | 7:30 p.m. | Atomic Coffee
Members of the community are invited to join the MSUM Percussion Studio when they take to the streets for the second annual performance of Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night on Friday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
“It’s a gorgeous new-music event, featuring interactive, haunting soundscapes played on portable sound devices,” says Kenyon Williams, a percussion instructor at MSUM. “It takes place all around the world, with participants in Brussels, London, New York and Fargo.”
People interested in participating should do the following:
- Bring a cellphone, and, if possible, a portable Bluetooth speaker.
- Download the “Unsilent Night” app (available for iOS and Android).
- Come to Atomic Coffee in downtown Fargo at 7:30 p.m.
Participants will “perform” one of four randomly chosen audio tracks while making their way to the Moorhead Center Mall. Atomic Coffee will provide free hot beverages to all participants at the beginning and at the end of the walk. MSUM will provide a free shuttle at the Moorhead Mall to help you get back to your car (parked along Broadway) after the event. The entire event will be 45 minutes long.
