October HR Events

Mark your calendars! October is coming fast and it will be a very busy month with many events taking place for employees.

FLU SHOT CLINIC – Thursday, Oct. 6

MSUM will be hosting a Flu Shot Clinic to offer employees a quick and easy way to get flu vaccinations.  The flu is a contagious respiratory illness that spreads from person-to-person and can cause a person to miss work and other obligations.  The best way to prevent the flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year!

Seasonal flu vaccinations will be available for state employees on Thursday, Oct. 6 in Owens Hall, Room 207 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There is no out-of-pocket cost for the vaccination if employees present their Minnesota Advantage Health Plan insurance card.  Without a valid insurance card or for employees who do not have health insurance through the State of Minnesota, the flu vaccine will cost $33.00 (These costs must be paid for with cash only – please bring exact change as nurses do not bring change with them on clinic day).

With supervisor’s approval, work time can be used to attend the clinic.  The vaccinations are offered on a “walk-in” basis, no appointment is necessary.  Employees should print and complete a Vaccination Consent for Influenza Form to bring with to the Flu Shot Clinic.  Short sleeve shirts or clothing that allows easy access to the upper arm is encouraged.

For a complete list of Flu Shot Clinics or for more information, please visit the SEGIP website.

MINNESOTA STATE EMPLOYEES’ COMBINED CHARITIES CAMPAIGN – Oct. 1-31

The Minnesota State Employees’ Combined Charities Campaign is almost here.  The event runs from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31, 2016.  Additional information regarding the campaign will be coming soon. Please be on the lookout for your packet!

Employees will have the opportunity to donate to a charity through payroll deduction.  Pledges will be processed on-line using the State of Minnesota Employee Self-Service website (where you view your pay stub information).  The campaign includes 38 Federations (charitable organizations) that represent similar charities.  This collaboration keeps administrative and fundraising expenses down, making your contribution dollars go as far as possible.

The goal this year is to raise $1 million dollars in donations.

If you have any questions regarding these events, or need any additional information, please feel free to contact the Human Resources office at x2157 or via email at hr@mnstate.edu.
