MSUM Working Through National Tragedies

President Anne Blackhurst recently sent an email to the campus community, reminding students, faculty and staff that MSUM stands in solidarity with those most affected by the fatal shootings in Orlando, Baton Rouge, Falcon Heights and Dallas.

She stressed the importance of supporting one another during these tragedies, and offered resources for students, faculty and staff.

Faculty and staff counseling support services are available through the State of Minnesota employee assistance program. You can access these services by calling 651-259-3840 or 800-657-3719, or online at www.mylifematters.com.

During the summer months, MSUM students may contact the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at 218-477-2652 for assistance or referrals.

“Each of us has unique life experiences and will react in our own way to recent events,” President Blackhurst said in her email. “Let us be mindful of one another and diligent in our efforts to maintain a safe and respectful environment both on campus and in our home communities. Let us also be united in condemning hate, violence and discrimination and embracing the noblest purpose of higher education: fostering understanding and justice through civil discourse and mutual respect.”
