MSUM Paralegal Program receives American Bar Association reapproval
MSUM’s Paralegal program has been granted Re-Approval by the American Bar Association (ABA), and has earned the credential continuously since initial approval in 1995.
ABA approval is granted to only 78 of the educational programs offering a four–year paralegal degree. MSUM is one of the few ABA-approved four-year programs in the tri-state area, including four in Minnesota, one in South Dakota and none in North Dakota. Employers, students and the legal community consider ABA approval the “gold standard” assessment, and the endorsement supports the recognition that MSUM’s Paralegal Program represents a benchmark for quality in paralegal education.
MSUM has 58 paralegal majors with a placement rate exceeding 95 percent, with several recent years at 100 percent professional placement or admission to graduate school.
The ABA Re-Approval process involved an intensive review of the paralegal curriculum, faculty, students and resources culminating with a two-day site visit in September 2015 that included meetings with faculty, administration, students, staff, graduates and the Paralegal Advisory Board.
