Make a Difference at Dragon Basketball’s Pledge Night on Friday
Dragon Athletics would like to invite you to join us as we take a stand with the NSIC against drinking and driving and with the entire MSUM campus against sexual violence at Pledge Night on Friday, February 5th during the men’s and women’s basketball games starting at 4:00pm.
This is the fourth annual NSIC “It’s A Slam Dunk, Don’t Drive Drunk” campaign. It started in 2013 to commemorate Drake Bigler, the five month old son of Southwest Minnesota State University’s men’s basketball coach Brad Bigler, who was killed by a drunk driver.
During designated basketball weekends, NSIC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) members will be collecting signatures from fans pledging not to drive drunk. Pledge stickers, pens, tattoos and bag tags will be handed out to fans that pledge to join in this initiative.
Over the past three years, NSIC SAAC members have collected over 30,000 signatures from fans pledging not to drive drunk. The NSIC encourages fans to support this effort and to always drive responsibly.
MSU Moorhead as a whole has joined the national “It’s On Us” campaign to pledge our commitment to end sexual violence. We encourage everyone to take the pledge to end sexual violence at the game on Friday in Nemzek or during the week of February 8th-11th in the Comstock Memorial Union. In addition, an MSUM student video contest to promote their commitment to end sexual violence will be held during the week with the winners announced on February 20th. Information about the contest will be available at the MSUM’s It’s On US! Pledge table. #ItsOnUSMSUM
