MSUM Theatre presents “Really Really”

Faculty and staff are invited to a free performance of the play “Really Really” to consider if the production is an opportunity for curricular and co- curricular conversations on sexual violence.

The play is described as a “quick-witted and gripping comic tragedy about ‘Generation Me” and it contains adult content including sexual situations and sexual violence.

Director Craig Ellingson noted that, “we are staging this play because it shows the challenges that we all face in life. It is a beginning of a conversation on very personal, difficult subjects.”

In addition to personal choices and individuality, the play includes one perspective regarding sexual assault—the occurrence, those involved, others impacted, and events that may follow.  To ensure that those in attendance receive factual, supportive community information, post show panel discussions will be hosted with representation from Fargo Moorhead Rape and Abuse Crisis Center, MSUM Sexual Assault Services, and MSUM Title IX Coordinator. Speakers will answer questions from the audience and address various aspects of sexual assault.

Faculty members and those who work with students and student organizations are invited to a free preview at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5 or Tuesday Oct. 6 to consider if the production and panel discussions can be a part of their classes and programs.

“I hope faculty and staff will use this opportunity to engage our students in challenging pervasive myths about sexual violence,” said Denise Gorsline, Interim Dean of Arts, Media, and Communication.

Really Really runs Oct. 7 – 10 at 7:30 on the Gaede Stage.  The free preview for faculty and staff is Oct. 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m.  The play is rated R and is suitable for mature audiences.  Tickets are available at the Box Office and at http://tickets.mnstate.edu.  Tickets are not needed for the free preview.
