Sexual politics theme of MSUM theatrical production
Really Really, a quick-witted and gripping comic tragedy about “generation me,” opens Wednesday, Oct. 7. The show runs through Oct. 10 on the Gaede Stage in MSUM’s Roland Dille Center for the Arts. All shows start at 7:30 p.m. and include a post-show panel discussion. The play contains adult content, including language, violence and sexual situations.
Really Really was one of off-Broadway’s most acclaimed hits upon its premiere in 2012. The setting is an elite university. The morning after a big party, “self-interest collides with the truth and the resulting storm of ambiguity makes it hard to discern just who’s a victim, who’s a predator and who’s a future leader of America,” says Craig Ellingson, the play’s director. The play was written by Paul Downs Colaizzo, whose play Tribes was one of last year’s biggest and most acclaimed off-Broadway hits.
