Alumni Foundation VP announces retirement

Laura Huth, Vice President of the MSUM Alumni Foundation, has announced her retirement effective April 1, 2016.

“I am thrilled for Laura and wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement,” said President Anne Blackhurst. “At the same time, her departure is a tremendous loss for MSUM. Under her leadership, our fundraising, development and alumni relations efforts have made enormous strides.  The number of record-breaking years we have experienced under Laura’s leadership is a testament to her vision, competence, and dedicated service.  She will be sorely missed.”

Huth serves on the senior executive team, is vice president of the Alumni Foundation and is executive director of the MSUM Alumni Foundation Board. She provides leadership in the planning, coordinating, managing and executing of all fundraising and development efforts for MSUM, and is the principal liaison to alumni, supporters and the board of directors.

“Laura has decided to turn in her MSUM Alumni Foundation name tag and coveted parking pass and retire,” said Scot Nelson, President of the Alumni Foundation. “She’s saying ‘goodbye tension, hello pension!’  My heart is joyful, of course, because I’m very happy for her and John.  My head and stomach ache because I will miss her and I recognize how difficult it will be to replace her.  She has been a joy to work with and a true professional in leading the Alumni Foundation these past five years.”

Huth holds a B.S. in mathematics and physical education from the University of South Dakota. She was a teacher for 17 years before entering development work. Her previous fundraising experience includes Presentation College (Aberdeen, S.D.), Fargo Catholic Schools Network and assistant director of development for major gifts at NDSU.
