The School of Visual Arts at Minnesota State University Moorhead invites the public to two exhibitions: “Otherwise Occupied” and “Alter Ego” on display at the Roland Dille Center for Arts Gallery (CA 155) from August 31 – September 24, 2015.
Josh Bindewald: Otherwise Occupied
Josh Bindewald is a Minneapolis area artist printmaker. He has a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and an MFA from Bradley University. Since 2012, Josh has been the Exhibitions and Artists’ Cooperative Manager at Highpoint Center for Printmaking in Minneapolis. His artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally and he is the recipient of a 2015 Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
Bindewald uses a variety of gestures, colors, and techniques to establish divergent emotions that simultaneously represent the toxicity and promise of humankind. He creates “landscapes” that document the physical and emotional geography of being human in the twenty-first century. Alongside fragments of memory and associated feelings, allusions are made to natural and man-made elements of the landscape and humankind’s role in shaping it.
Sponsored in part by the Comstock Foundation in support of visiting artists.
