MSUM WILL CELEBRATE RED RIVER’S RETREAT WITH “FLOODSTOCK ’09”
Floodstock ’09, a community celebration produced by Minnesota State University Moorhead, will take the stage Tuesday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hansen Theatre in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts. Everyone’s invited!
“We are very proud of our students, faculty and staff, who showed remarkable determination and dedication during the flood fight,” says MSUM Pres. Edna Mora Szymanski. “Our community showed the nation how to work together in an emergency. Now it’s time for a little fun. We want to celebrate success and say goodbye to the floodwaters.”
MSUM’s Theatre Department will put the event together. Highlights will include selections from “The Producers” (postponed from April to this summer’s Straw Hat season) and water-related songs like “Rolling on the River.” There will also be skits involving community leaders and others. Steve Poitras (MSUM Class of ’67), will serve as emcee. Poitras and his family lost their home to the flooding.
The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited, so tickets are required for admittance. To get your free tickets, call the MSUM Box Office at 477-2271 between noon and 4 p.m. Floodstock ‘09 will support the United Way of Cass-Clay’s flood relief fund.
