Communicators and social media managers invited to join Communicators Council

Faculty and staff who manage social media or who are involved in marketing and promotion of campus programs are invited to join the Communicators Council, which meets monthly.

What is Communicators Council?

A group of individuals who, to some extent, engage in communications activities on behalf of MSUM or an MSUM unit/department, particularly though not exclusively social media content providers. The group serves in an advisory capacity to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications and will have no authority of its own. Membership is voluntary.

What is the purpose?

  • Coordinate social media activities to increase communications effectiveness
  • Share ideas on best practices
  • Educate practitioners on the use of analytic tools to inform content
  • Develop a monthly content calendar
  • Seek opportunities to push traffic among other campus social media and websites
  • Distribute strategic content
  • Make recommendations on an institutional social media policy
  • Respond to content that has the potential to negatively effect perceptions of MSUM
  • Discuss the merits of various social media platforms
  • Explore other internal communication opportunities

This year’s kick-off meeting will be in early October.

If you’re interested in attending, please email Marketing & Communications to let them know you would like to be included in the Doodle poll and receive future emails. Please send ideas for potential discussion topics, questions and resources to marketingteam@mnstate.edu.
