Construction: Weeks 7-9
Construction walls, caution tape, and jackhammers oh my!
Yes, the building is continuing to transform little by little each day.
We are excited to share with you that we recently installed a cool new feature to track the construction progress! On our website at www.mnstate.edu/cmu, there is a live feed of a camera that overlooks the main area of construction for the addition. (Click on “Construction Webcam” on the left side of the page.) Here is where you can see where the footings, that have now been poured on both the southeast side of the building as well as the southwest side, are located. These footings provide the base of the addition that will add over 3,000 square feet of space to the building. Can you start to see the new shape of the building from the camera feed?
Positioned in the corner of a stairwell in the library, this camera provides the viewpoint of sitting on top of the library and looking at the corner of the building between the parking lot and Kise Commons. We strongly encourage you to check it out (so we’re not the only ones creepily watching the construction workers). After all, don’t you want to see what it looks like in real-time?! Consider this your invitation to a “secret” preview into the newly renovated space….
In addition to the camera, there hasn’t been much to share since our last construction update three weeks ago. Since then, interior demolition has paused, but the framing for new office spaces downstairs has started. Meanwhile, crews have been diligently working in and above the ceilings to install fire walls in order to meet building codes. All in all, progress is definitely showing!
We promise to keep you updated on the #ExtremeMakeoverCMUEdition project. Can you promise us to stay connected? Like us on Facebook (here) and follow us on Twitter (here). Call us greedy, but we’re always looking for more ‘likes’ and ‘follows’!
