Reminder: Desire2Learn (D2L) name change to D2L Brightspace
Starting May 30, 2015, our campus will transition from using the name “Desire2Learn” or “D2L” for our learning management system to a new name — “D2L Brightspace.” Please be aware that this change may affect your published content (including instructional materials).
Why? In 2014 D2L Corporation announced naming changes to their corporate identity and the learning environment we use for our online and hybrid/blended courses.
How will this change affect you?
Beginning May 30th, the new name should be used in all campus web sites, communication, and documents wherever Desire2Learn or D2L is mentioned in text. The new Brightspace logo must be used if you added the D2L logo to your materials.
If you are a faculty member, please replace “D2L” or “Desire2Learn” with “D2L Brightspace” wherever you used the name in your course materials. Changes should be made for all courses taught beginning Summer 2015 and thereafter. You do not need to make changes to courses taught in previous semesters. If you are not teaching summer courses, you may want to plan ahead and begin making the appropriate changes to your ‘devel’ or Fall courses.
