Message from Nepali Student Association

We, the Nepalese community living in Fargo/Moorhead area, have been humbled by your act of kindness and generosity in this troubling time in our home country of Nepal. We are very appreciative of your support in helping us raise donations that would further aid the non-profit organizations and volunteers already on the ground providing food, shelter and medical support relentlessly to the affected people and their families.

After our research, we finally came to the decision of donating part of our money to the Gorkha Foundation and Nepal Red Cross.

The Gorkha Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, recognized by the IRS, and all donations and grants to the Gorkha Foundation are tax-deductible in accordance with the IRS regulations. Originally, they had been working to improve living conditions and strengthen the economy in poor and marginalized communities in the Gorkha region. However, the organization has shifted all its attention in relief work to aid the people affected by the devastating earthquake that occurred on April 25, 2015.

Please visit the Gorkha Foundation or their Facebook page to follow their efforts, collaboration with “Doctors without Borders” and distribution of supplies to sustain the living conditions of the survivors.

We chose this organization because we believe that the donations will be put to proper intended use and will directly benefit the earthquake victims. There is an option to directly donate to the organization in their official website.
We would like to specially thank Affinity Plus Credit Union, Copy2Print, MSUM SODEXO, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Black Student Alliance and Office of Student Affairs for their immense support. Also, for the MSUM faculy staff and alumni, we couldn’t have come this far without your support. Finally, we extend our gratitude to the entire Fargo-Moorhead Community for being there for us.

Sincerely,
Nepali Student Association
