Dragons go with ‘clean, classic’ look for new artificial turf Scheels Field
MOORHEAD – Minnesota State Moorhead decided to go with a simple look for its new artificial turf field that is scheduled to be installed before next football season.
The Dragons unveiled the final design for Scheels Field on Saturday night at an athletic fundraising event. The turf field will be primarily green with red end zones. Each end zone will have “Dragons” written in white lettering, using a Dragons logo for the “O.” A large Dragons logo will also be featured at midfield.
“I really felt that where our program is right now, that clean, classic look was best for Dragon football,” MSUM athletic director Doug Peters said.
Peters said almost 100 design ideas were submitted, including all red and all black designs for the artificial turf. The final design was kept more traditional, Peters said, to honor the program’s history.
