Annual Dragon Pride Awards Ceremony was held last night
On Wednesday, April 22, the Student Organization Advisory Committee (SOAC) held their Annual Dragon Pride Awards Ceremony where 13 different awards were given to students, student organizations, and an organization advisor. The following awards were presented:
-Rookie of the Year: Austin Sweeny from Kappa Sigma.
-Student Leader of the Year: Alayna Holkesvig from KMSC Dragon Radio.
-Organization Advisor of the Year: Shane Kelly, advisor for Kappa Sigma.
-Organization Officer of the Year: Brady Kauk from Kappa Sigma. Honorable mentions include Ben Lemay with Sustainable Students Association and Taryn Espinosa with Gamma Phi Beta.
-Student Volunteer of the Year: Jake Humphrey who volunteered with AfterDark.
-Dragon Pride Student of the Year: Andy Smith from Gamma Phi Beta. An honorable mention is Sarah Knight with the student Homecoming Committee.
-Outstanding Philanthropy Program of the Year: Dragon Entertainment Group’s event “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes.”
-Outstanding Collaborative Program of the Year: AfterDark’s “Science Night.” An honorable mention is the College of Education & Human Services event “Global Education: Cross Department Study Tour.”
-Outstanding Educational Program of the Year: “Microsoft Tour” which was put on by the Economic Society. An honorable mention is Dragon Entertainment Group’s event “Hope for the Homeless.”
-Outstanding Diversity/Cultural Awareness Program of the Year: American Indian Student Association’s events for “Native American Heritage Month.” An honorable mention is Dragon Entertainment Group’s event “Step Africa.”
-Outstanding New Organization of the Year: Kawa Tatsu Yosakoi Dance (KTYD).
-Dragon Pride Organization of the Year: MSUM Rock Climbing Club. An honorable mention is the Education Minnesota Student Program.
-Organization of the Year: Society of Physics Students.
