Zhimin Guan, School of Visual Art, opens exhibit at U of M Crookston Sept. 24
A solo exhibit of paintings by Zhimin Guan, School of Visual Art, opens Sept. 24 and runs until Oct. 2 at the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. The show is organized by the Confucius Institute at University of Minnesota. The exhibit is titled “Mountain Spirits & Water Images.” Zhimin Guan will also conduct a Chinese painting workshop at 4:30 p.m. in Owens Hall 118, followed by a free buffet supper and slide lecture and a question and answer session(6:20-7:30pm) in the Bede Ballroom.
Three of Guan’s paintings will also be featured in “Collision and Confluence: Chinese-American Art Faculty Exhibition and Symposium,” an event organized by The Center for Chinese Art at William Paterson University, the Chinese-American Art Faculty Association in Wayne, New Jersey; the China International Cultural Association and the Asian Cultural Center both in New York City. The three paintings and a biography will be featured in the exhibition catalog published from William Paterson University press. Guan is also one of the key note speakers in the art symposium at the Asian Cultural Center in New York November 7 and 8.
Guan’s work was also chosen for the cover of the Lake Region Review and for an inside feature story in the Fergus Falls-based publication.
