MSUM theatre alums garner attention for work at Minnesota Fringe Festival

MSUM Theatre Arts alumni received rave reviews for a production titled Now I See at the Minnesota Fringe Festival, an 11-day non-juried event featuring performing artists of several genres and disciplines. Minnesota Fringe is the largest non-juried festival in the United States and the third-largest Fringe festival in North America.

Based on a transcript of a 1930s radio broadcast, Now I See tells the story of a man who finally achieved his life’s dream of becoming a manager of a boxing champion, but gave it all up as penance for someone who was hurt along the way.

Meagan Kedrowski and Kristin Fox co-directed the piece and worked on all technical aspects, from designing the set, to sound cues, to costumes. They also acted in the show. Kimberly Miller was the assistant director and stage manager; Al Odden was the producer and builder of the scenic elements; Jason Uphoff was the Foley (sound effects) artist.  Lucas Vanosek was leading man; Jayme Godding and Kelly Nelson were ensemble members. All are MSUM Theatre Department graduates, and all are working on a variety of theatre projects in the Twin Cities.

Now I See garnered 38 five-star reviews (out of a possible five stars); and nine four-star reviews. The Festival included 169 shows that ran in 19 different venues around Minneapolis from July 31 to Aug. 10. It set a new record for ticket sales, issuing 50,226 tickets to 878 total performances of the 169 different shows.
