Tour of Pactiv Manufacturing and Forum on Recycling, Composting, Waste Reduction at Colleges , City and County level in Moorhead MN
10 A.M. Registration at Comstock Memorial Union, Minnesota State Univ. Moorhead, Moorhead , MN 56560
This event will begin with a tour of Pactiv, the egg carton manufacturer located in Moorhead, MN, followed by lunch and a forum at Minnesota State University Moorhead on the topic of Campus Recycling, Waste Reduction and Composting at MSUM, Concordia College, featuring partnerships with the City of Moorhead and Clay County.
Pactiv manufactures molded fiber egg cartons, utilizing paper materials from recycling collectors including county, city and industrial facilities in a broad area of Minnesota, North Dakota and beyond. Whether you have toured in the past or are among those who have not yet had a chance to visit this significant paper recycling facility, you will not be disappointed. This is a very interesting and relevant facility, where it is possible that you will see paper collected through your own recycling programs in the process of becoming an egg carton.
Following the tour, the group will return to the Comstock Union at Minnesota State University Moorhead for lunch. The Forum will feature presentations and discussion detailing MSUM and Concordia College campus recycling, waste reduction and energy conservation programs led by MSUM Sustainability Coordinator, Joe Herbst and Concordia College staff. Shannon Thompson with Clay County Solid Waste and Steve Moore, Public Works Administrator with the City of Moorhead will be presenting County and City Recycling and Composting programs and their partnerships with the colleges.
The program will continue with a brief Introduction and overview of the ND Solid Waste & Recycling Assoc. by Director, Dianna Trussel, and concludeswith RAM activity updates by Policy and Outreach Director, Brita Sailer.
Plenty of valuable networking time is built into this event, where we expect not only familiar friends and colleagues, but new faces from the North Dakota Solid Waste and Recycling Association and members of campus sustainability programs from the area.
