MSUM College for Kids receives grants from Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation and Lake Region Arts Council
Moorhead, Minn., June 4, 2014…Minnesota State University Moorhead’s College for Kids received a grant from the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation for $2,000. The grant will be used for need-based scholarships to help cover the cost of classes for students.
College for Kids also received $2,000 from the Lake Region Arts Council. The grant will be used to provide support for supplies needed for the operation various courses in the Arts. This activity is funded by the Minnesota arts and cultural heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008.
College for Kids is a summer day camp program for children ages 6 to 18. The classes offered encourage exploration, adventure and creativity while cultivating understanding and appreciation for a variety of topics. Session themes include various art topics and techniques, fitness and sports, nature, science and technology.
The purpose of the program is to introduce students to a campus environment, provide experiences that are intellectually enriching and expose them to future career options in the areas of science, fine arts, visual arts, and sports. The program runs July 14-17 and July 21-24, offering morning and afternoon classes.
The scholarships made available through the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation and Lake Region Arts Council will provide opportunities to children to experience this enrichment program, which offers quality instruction with low student-to-teacher ratios and provides an opportunity to develop their potential.
