Notice of Vacancy: Interim Provost and Senior VP for Academic Affairs

Applications and nominations are being accepted for Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. This interim appointment will begin July 1, 2014 and extend through June 30, 2015.

The Interim Provost will be the chief academic affairs officer and the second-ranking executive officer of the University, reporting directly to the President and acting on her behalf in her absence. The Interim Provost will provide collaborative leadership and direction for all academic programs while advancing the strategic goals of Minnesota State University Moorhead. The Provost will support, initiate, and promote the University’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service, which includes strong partnerships in community and economic development.

The Interim Provost will:

1.

Advise the President on all Academic and Student Affairs matters and serve as the Chief Executive Officer in her absence.

2.

Plan, evaluate, and exercise responsibility for academic and student programs, policies, and standards.

3.

Plan for, recommend and monitor utilization of financial resources for faculty, academic administration, academic support personnel, and student administration and support.

4.

Supervise the Deans and academic program directors, empowering them to recruit, employ and assign faculty and staff, plan, prepare and monitor budgets and oversee the development, improvement and retention of the programs.

5.

Provide leadership for the Academic Affairs Council and Meet and Confer.

6.

Participate in Minnesota State College and University system-wide planning and operations in cooperation with the Chancellor’s Office, the Vice Presidents and employee bargaining units.

7.

Implement, assess and recommend to the President academic and/or staff appointments, retention, promotion, and tenure/permanent status related to all programs in the division.

8.

Assure diversity initiatives are realized within the division.

9.

Implement and monitor locally the provisions of the IFO agreement and respond to grievances.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Earned doctorate from an accredited institution

Professional Licensure/Certification:

Type of Experience: Minimum (5) five years of significant administrative experience at the level of dean or above.

Other Special Requirements: Professional growth and service achievements commensurate with this senior appointment
