At her retirement, she was recognized by MSU’s President Roland Dille for her leadership, and again at the 20th Anniversary of the program in 1994. She retired in 1985 and dedicated her time to historical research. She wrote the history of the First Congregation United Church of Christ, Moorhead, MN, completed after two years of research and then she turned to genealogy. She spent a year of research at the Bodleian Library in Oxford, England (1985-86); traveled to Norway, where she met cousin Ranveig Hoel; and made trips to various state archives, including NC where she met her husband’s cousin Houston Jones, who shared her love of family history. Her research culminated in two treasured volumes of family history. She and her husband moved to Lexington, KY in 1996 to be close to family and they became active members of Central Christian Church.
