MSUM’s 125th anniversary work underway

Cross-campus team planning activities for yearlong celebration

A 125th committee comprised of faculty, staff, faculty emeriti and alumni have been meeting since October to plan MSU Moorhead’s 125th anniversary. Many of the 125th anniversary activities include partnering with existing events that occur during the year.

The yearlong celebration kicks off July 4th with the holiday’s traditional events, entertainment and fireworks, along with additional anniversary themed activities.

Homecoming will be a significant event to highlight our quasquicentennial and will include a variety of department specific and all-class reunions. This year’s homecoming theme is “Once a Dragon, Always a Dragon.” If your department is interested in holding an alumni reunion, please contact Alumni Director Gina Monson at x2244 or monsong@mnstate.edu. If you have ideas or want to partner with student-related events, please contact Becky Boyle Jones, assistant director of activities, at x2524 or boyle@mnstate.edu.

A 125th calendar of events will be shared with the campus community as details are finalized. A 125th anniversary website is also under construction. It will include a historical timeline and have space for alumni and friends to share their stories and memories. Terry Shoptaugh and President Emeritus Roland Dille are also working on a photo history book.

It’s going to be an exciting year! If you have ideas, suggestions or thoughts to share with the committee, please contact Dave Wahlberg at x2175 or david.wahlberg@mnstate.edu.
