Fargo, ND (WDAY TV)– Most musicians hoping to make it big can only dream of one day signing with a record label. But a student run group at MSUM is turning that dream into a reality for local musicians. Behind the books and hours of studying.

Lies a group thats turning the eyes, and ears, of everyone who stops to listen.

Rachael Goers- Undeclared Records President: “Our program and even just Undeclared Records is very unique. That’s actually why I chose to go to MSUM.”

Undeclared Records- It’s MSUM’s student run record label.

Giving these aspiring entertainers hands on experience, in the real world music industry.

Ryan Jackson- MSUM Associate Music Professor: “They need to be very well adjusted for what’s to come and I think we do that here very well.”

From rock to acoustic.

Eric Jensen- Undeclared Records Upcoming President: “I have been doing a lot of work in hip hop.”

Album art to promotions, they do it all.

Goers: “Everything is recorded by students, and all of our artists this year were students or have been students.”

Bringing sound straight from the studio.

To the soundboard, where the best of the best ultimately land a track on the album.

Jensen: “Really exciting being able to be a part of something that a lot of people would love to be a part of but don’t necessarily have the opportunity.”

Jackson: “When they come in the door they’re students. By the time they leave, they’re all my kids, and they’re all extremely well trained professionals.”

All with the heart and soul to take their talents to the next level.

Undeclared Records is made up of musicians in MSUM’s Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association. The label just released its fourth album.
