Hill attends FAR Fellows Institute at NCAA headquarters
Minnesota State University Moorhead Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Ellen Hill attended the FAR Fellows Institute at the NCAA Headquarters earlier this month.
In April, Hill was chosen to be one of 30 Fellows for the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Institute. This is a conference held in October every other year which brings together a small group of FARs from multiple conferences to discuss the progresses they’ve made and will continue to make.
Hill, a professor of the mathematics department, is in her third year as the FAR for MSUM Athletics.
Faculty involvement in athletics dates back as far as 1928, but the first meeting of these individuals was held in Nashville in 1985. Each NCAA institution in all three divisions now requires an FAR and works as the liaison between the departments on campus.
The selection to the FAR Institute was prestigious for Hill, as she was one of 30 individuals chosen out of more than 300 schools.
