Students: Sign up now to study abroad with Eurospring 2013
Which MSUM program leaves students saying: “Go for it and do it. You can’t put a price on such a life-changing experience.” And “It has been the best two months of my life.” And “A transcendent, life-enhancing experience that anyone with the ability should take advantage of”?
That program is MSUM’s Eurospring, which has been taking Dragons overseas for over 30 years. Students depart in March, and first spend five weeks in Oxford, England, studying at Wycliffe Hall. Then, they embark on a three-week study tour of the European continent with visits to several major cities. This year’s itinerary includes Paris, Florence, Siena, Venice, Rome, Vienna, Prague, Rothenburg, and Amsterdam.
Students earn 15 upper-division credits through their Eurospring experience. 6 credits are earned through coursework under the direction of Oxford Professor Allan Chapman and his colleagues at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford. Students can choose from a variety of classes addressing this year’s chronological theme, “The Enlightenment.” 6 credits are earned as two MSUM LASC/DC classes: one in humanities/global studies (cross-listed in 6 & 8 ) and one in the social sciences (area 5). Students also earn one writing-intensive designation.
Upcoming informational meetings for interested students will be held in CMU 214 on Wednesday, September 26 at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and on Thursday, September 27 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Dr. Chapman and Eurospring faculty leader Professor Craig Ellingson will be present at these meetings to answer your questions.
Dr. Chapman’s lecture, “Science & Religion: Friends or Foes?” will be presented on Wednesday night, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. in Science Lab 104. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the SL Atrium.
Visit the circulation desk lobby of the Library to see the photo display from Eurospring 2012, presented by students, faculty, and staff who were on the trip.
