Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV) – It’s been a big day in the City of Detroit Lakes. Hundreds of people including Governor Mark Dayton gathered in the city to honor the newest cities and one college campus to the Yellow Ribbon Network.

This day means eight more cities and the MSUM campus are now joining 130 other cities in Minnesota that will now have a solid plan to aide service members and their families.

The cities now included in the Yellow Ribbon Network are Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, Thief River Falls, Fergus Falls, Wadena, Bemidji, Long Prairie and Alexandria.

A set plan is now in place in each city to provide services like meals, lawn care, job placement and many other resources.

Governor Dayton says Freedom isn’t free and with more and more yellow ribbon networks joining the program, it shows Minnesotans want to share the responsibility of freedom.
