Horizonlines.org is national finalist in EPPY Awards
Has earned more than 30 national, regional awards since 2002
MSUM’s online magazine was a national finalist in The EPPYTM Awards, presented by Editor & Publisher magazine, the authoritative journal covering all aspects of the newspaper industry since 1884. The Hospice edition of Horizonlines.org, titled “Living a Lifetime: Caring Through the End,” was a finalist in the category, “Best College/University Journalistic or Documentary Report.”
ieiMedia’s website, created in partnership with Iowa State University and James Madison University, won in this category.
The E&P team, along with a prestigious panel of 54 judges, selected the 2011 EPPY™ award finalists. It is one of the nation’s most prized and long-running honors for online content and recognizes the best media-affiliated websites across 43 diverse categories. This is the 16th year of the international contest.
Horizonlines.org is an online general interest magazine produced by MSUM students under the direction of Reggie Radniecki, associate professor of mass communications. Students from a variety of disciplines come together each spring to produce the annual magazine.
“The Hospice project took nearly two years to complete and was the most difficult and challenging magazine that the online workshop students have dealt with thus far,” Radniecki said. “However, because it was such a challenge, it became an incredible learning experience, one that helped students grow as writers, editors, photographers and multimedia designers and gave them an in-depth understanding of the role of Hospice in the community.”
Since its inaugural issue in 2002, the magazine has won 60 national and regional awards.
