Planetarium Hosts Free Open House Events Nov. 6-21
Experience will be immersive, dynamic and far-reaching
MSU Moorhead installed its new digital Elumenati projector and Uniview projection software last weekend and is now hosting free, public open houses to highlight the seamless visualization in shows that are more dynamic and far-reaching than traditional astronomy programming.
The Planetarium open houses will be Sundays at 2 p.m. and Mondays at 7 p.m. Nov. 6-21. The planetarium is located at 11th Street and 8th Avenue South on the MSUM campus in Bridges Hall 167.
The show will include a tour of the known universe, which takes viewers from Fargo-Moorhead through our atmosphere and the inky blackness of space to the afterglow of the Big Bang, and a short live presentation on a selected science topic. Every star, planet and galaxy seen in the visualization is in Univew’s four-dimensional map of the universe.
The biggest change for our audiences will be the dynamic and total immersion experience they will now have. The show will cover the entire dome and the operator can stop at various locations, such as Mars, for a closer look. Uniview is the most feature-rich astronomical visualization and universal data exploration platform on the market.
