Host families invited for Russian delegation

MSUM has been selected by the Open World Leadership Program to host a delegation of Russian leaders in government and non-government organizations. The university will be hosting six delegates from this program, who work in non-governmental organizations, from October 21-29. You are invited to serve as a host family for one or more of the delegates.

Host families will be responsible for providing accommodations and some meals for our guests while they are here. Most transportation will be arranged. The delegates should each have their own bedroom and may speak limited English. The Russian delegates include four women and two men, ranging in age from 24-41.

If you are interested in serving as a host family during this visit, please contact Tim Borchers at borchers@mnstate.edu. Send your name, address, and any hobbies, interests, pets, or other information that may help us place a delegate with your family.

While they are in Fargo-Moorhead, the Russians will be visiting a variety of government and non-governmental organizations. There will be several opportunities for the campus community to interact with them.

The Open World Leadership Program is an international professional exchange program that brings small delegations of emerging leaders from Eurasia to the U.S. to experience American-style democracy, civil society and community life. The program provides unique opportunities for the Eurasian visitors to observe and experience American political, business and community life firsthand, as they meet their professional counterparts, take part in cultural events, homestays, and other activities arranged by local organizations.
