Legendary bassist Eddie Gomez performs with his trio Friday, Sept. 9, at 8 p.m. at Studio 222 in downtown Fargo. The Eddie Gomez Trio, which includes jazz pianist Stefan Karlsson and drummer Rodrigo Villaneuva, will also work with students in a master class in Fox Recital Hall from 3 to 4:30, and will present a clinic from 5 to 6 p.m. Fox Recital Hall is in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts on the MSUM campus. Both the masterclass and clinic are free and open to the public. Admission to the concert at Studio 222 is $10; students with student ID get in free.

Gomez has been on the cutting edge of music for over four decades. The Latin GRAMMY® award-winner’s resumé includes performances with jazz giants Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Bill Evans, Gerry Mulligan and Benny Goodman. Eddie’s unique sound and style can be heard on hundreds of recordings spanning the worlds of jazz, classical, Latin jazz, rhythm and blues, popular and contemporary music.
