For an experience that will last a lifetime, travel with us to China, a country that claims a history of 5,000 years. Throughout the journey, we will compare and contrast business in China with business in the United States. By experiencing for yourself the rural-urban dichotomy, the co-existence of communism and capitalism and the effects that the current economic boom has had on the environment, you will gain an awareness of the effect that China’s culture, history, and political ideology have played in shaping China’s role in the global economy. When we visit educational institutions and companies involved in global business, you will have opportunities to interact with students and businesspeople to discuss issues related to global interdependence and public policy. Attending cultural events and visiting historical sites will raise our consciousness of China’s long history.

From Beijing we will travel to UlaanBaatar, the capitol of Mongolia by train, which will go through a part of the Gobi Desert.  While in UlaanBaatar you will interact with government officials, businesspeople and students.

The tentative itinerary includes travel to Hong Kong, Chongqing, Yangshuo, Xi’an, Beijing and UlaanBaatar, Mongolia. We shall also take excursions into small villages and the country side. Mode of travel will include: plane, train, automobile, bus, boat and bicycle. Highlights of the trip include excursions to the main cultural places and events in these cities.

You do not need to be a business major or minor and you do not need to speak Chinese or Mongolian to join this exciting trip. Tentative travel dates are May 15 – June 4. For further information please contact: Dr. Ruth Lumb, 218-477-2652 or lumb@mnstate.edu
