Media and Diverse Identities offered spring semester

A new spring course has been added, WS 415 Media and Diverse Identities, Dragon Core 9, Mondays 4:30-7 p.m., Dr. Kandace Creel Falcón.

Throughout the course students will 1) Develop frameworks for thinking critically about the media (film, television, music, magazines, books, internet) in order to explore the relationships between society, ethics, and media; 2) View clips from films, television shows, YouTube, read gossip magazines, blog and Tweet on Twitter to think about how the media comes to shape our lives and how we can have a hand in shaping it in the ways we see fit; and 3) Make and share our own media through digital storytelling in order to challenge dominant narratives in mainstream Western media.

Questions? Email Kandace at creel@mnstate.edu or stop by MacLean 175A.
