History-making “Baby Boomers” topic of MSUM lecture
MSUM Archivist Terry Shoptaugh will deliver this year’s Dille Faculty Lecture on “With No Apologies to Tom Brokaw: The ‘Baby Boom’ as History” Wednesday, October 13 at 7 p.m. in the Science Lab 104.
In this lecture, Shoptaugh will review the origin of the “boom,” describe the impact it had on American society, review the controversies surrounding the “boomer generation,” and suggest how this group might be remembered by future historians.
Shoptaugh is the author of four books, including You Have Been Kind Enough to Assist Me, which was a finalist selection for a Minnesota Book Award, and They Were Ready: The 164th Infantry in the Pacific War. He also teaches history and humanities classes at MSUM.
The talk and reception are free and open to the public.
