Actors awarded at national theatre festival
Two MSUM theatre students gained national recognition at The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), held at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. in mid-April.
Tyler Michaels, senior Theatre Arts major, was awarded the Dell’ Arte International School of Physical Training Program Fellowship and The Mark Twain Scholarship for Comic Performance. Michaels is from Bloomington, Minn. Matt Englund, sophomore Theatre Arts major, was awarded The Margolis Method Summer Intensive Fellowship. Englund is from Lakeville, Minn. Both students advanced to the national conference after competing successfully at the regional conference, which included students from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas.
KCACTF is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide. The organization serves more than 600 academic institutions throughout the country, and allows theater departments and student artists the chance to showcase their work and receive outside assessment by KCACTF respondents.
