Dean of University College: Call for applications

The Dean of University College is a full-time, twelve-month position and will involve an initial appointment of two years, with a starting date of July 1, 2010. The Dean reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs.

As Dean of University College, this position plays a key role in leading the following: Corrick Center, Dragon Core and its assessment, Writing Intensive Program, First Year Seminar, Learning Communities, Honors, Academic Programs for Undecided Students, University Studies, Personal Development courses, and Service Learning. The Dean is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing those programs in order to ensure student success. Leadership in this area involves working collaboratively with all academic departments and programs, enrollment management and, as appropriate, Student Affairs. The Dean is administrative supervisor of the Corrick Center and the Academic Resource Office (ARO), and will serve on the President’s Cabinet, the Academic Affairs Council, APAC (nonvoting), and other University committees as needed. The Dean may receive other duties as assigned by the Provost. The Dean must be sensitive in all dealings with other personnel, visitors, and students, so that all are treated in a respectful, professional, and humane manner.

This is an internal search, limited to current faculty at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Minimum requirements are tenure as a full-time faculty member at Minnesota State University Moorhead, at least 8 years of academic experience (including teaching, service, knowledge of advising, and mentoring of students), previous administrative experience (minimally, chair of an academic department, school, or other department-like academic unit), and earned graduate degree (relevant terminal degree preferred).
