MSU Mankato targets possible cuts

MANKATO — The drama begins now. Minnesota State University announced this week that the aviation, computer science and undergraduate music programs — among others — have been slated for elimination. Dozens of other programs, the university announced, will be subject to budget cuts that may include curriculum, full-time faculty or adjunct. The cuts are part of the university’s plan to prepare for what looks to be a horrendous budget situation come 2012. MSU’s share of a $5 billion state budget shortfall will be somewhere in the $6 million to $10 million range. To cut that much they’ll need to get rid of people, more specifically, faculty. School Psychology Program Approved

MSUM’s School Psychology Program has been notified that its Specialist degree program has received Full Approval from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) after passing an extensive review process. NASP is an affiliate of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The MSUM School Psychology Program has been NASP Approved since the beginning of the program approval process in 1988. The current approval runs through 2014.
