Asian Immigrant Panel features MSUM’s Chizuko Shastri

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County will host a panel of local people who originate from Asia on Tuesday, December 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Hjemkomst Center, 202 1st Ave. N., Moorhead. Held in conjunction with the exhibit Asian Games: The Art of Contest, the panel will discuss different cultural traditions in their countries of origin. Chizuko Shastri from MSUM will speak on Japanese cultural traditions.

Supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, this activity is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The exhibit consists of Asian art reproductions depicting people playing games as well as 18th and 19th-century game pieces and explanatory text panels. This exhibition has been made possible through NEH on the Road, a special initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities. It is brought to you by Mid-America Arts Alliance and was organized by Asia Society in New York, NY. The exhibit runs through Jan. 3 at the Hjemkomst Center.
