Peace Corps recruiter here Oct. 8

Peace Corps Regional Recruiter, Joshua Becker, will be hosting a general information session at 6 pm Thursday, October 8 in CMU 203. Come hear volunteer stories, learn about the benefits of service, and learn how to apply. Questions, contact: jbecker@peacecorps.gov.

The Peace Corps traces its roots and mission to 1960, when then Senator John F. Kennedy challenged students at the University of Michigan http://www.peacecorps.gov/index.cfm?shell=learn.whatispc.history.speech to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries. From that inspiration grew an agency of the federal government devoted to world peace and friendship.

Since that time, more than 195,000 Peace Corps Volunteers dedicated two years of their lives to serve in 139 countries around the world to work on issues related to the following areas: education, youth outreach and community development; business development; agriculture and environment; health and HIV/AIDS; and information technology.
