APAC Minutes – September 15, 2009
Members present: Midgarden, chairperson, Adler, Blunsom, Borchers, Clapp, Ellingboe, Gillett, Gorsline, Hill, Johnson, Leonard, Mafla-Bustamante, Malott, Mouch, P. Sando, Schwartz, Walseth.

2. 2009/2010 APAC Meeting Schedule
· If there are no agenda items for a particular meeting, it will be cancelled.
· Meetings may be added during spring semester.

· The website has links to the APAC manual, committee membership, meeting schedule, submission deadlines, forms, agendas and minutes.
· Email address for APAC submissions: apac@mnstate.edu .
4. Role of the Academic Policy Advisory Committee
· APAC Manual is available on the APAC website.
· APAC members should feel free (and are encouraged) to contact proposers prior to the meeting if they find something out of place on a proposal. By alerting the proposer ahead of time, it will be easier to work through it at the meeting.
· APAC recommends approval of curriculum and policy.
· “Minor changes as announced” is a nod to the excellent work of the Dragon Core Committee and University Writing Committee.

American Multicultural Studies Department
AMCS 100: America’s Mosaic (3 crs) in Liberal Studies Division F1 effective Spring 2009
There were no concerns, approved as announced
Anthropology and Earth Science Department
(The University Writing Committee has approved the following course as writing intensive)
GEOS 315: Sedimentology/Stratigraphy (3 crs) will be the designated writing course for Geology and Earth Science Teaching majors effective Fall 2009.
There were no concerns, approved as announced.
Health and Physical Education Department
(The University Writing Committee has approved the following courses as writing intensive)
PE 310: Sport and Play in the US (3 crs) will be the designated writing course for Physical Education and Exercise Science majors effective Fall 2009.
HLTH 340: Health Methods and Materials (3 crs) will be the designated writing course for Health Education majors effective Fall 2009.
There were no concerns, approved as announced.
