Please help prepare 4,000 students for success in school!

In the past 10 years, thousands of students have gone to school with the supplies they needed to succeed. United Way is again asking the community to donate supplies, volunteer their time or contribute monetarily to the 11th Annual School Supply Drive.

Supplies are desperately needed before August 5th at 4:00 p.m. —- MSUM donations  to date: 4 backpacks, 4 pkgs. of markers, 13 notebooks, 7 pkgs.of pens,  1 pencil box, 1 scissor, 2 pkgs. of loose leaf paper, 2 boxes of colored pencils, 10 folders, 8 pkgs. of pencils, 5 boxes of crayons, 3 rulers, 7 bottles of glue, 6 glue sticks, and 5 – 3 ring binders.

Last year the drive provided 3,800 backpacks for local students grade K-12 because of generous donors who dropped a few extra supplies off in the donation bins while they were shopping or organized a drive in their workplace. A mother whose children received a backpack last year commented “The School Supply Drive allowed my children to begin the school year with the supplies they needed to be successful. It gave them the opportunity to enjoy the things that other students have.”

Local educators also feel the impact of the United Way project.

“Each year it always brings me great enjoyment to see hundreds of students show up the first day with that smile on their face with their brand new backpacks and supplies,” said John Nelson, Principal of Ben Franklin Middle school in Fargo. “For so many of them, that smile is due to the United Way School Supply Drive.”

Who can receive school supplies? Supplies are available for students residing in and attending K-12 schools in Cass or Clay counties.

PLEASE help solve this critical need in our community by dropping off school supplies on or before Wednesday, August 5th, in the red barrels located outside the Human Resources office – OWENS 210.
