Wadena Student to Study in Japan
Samantha Martus, a Minnesota State University Moorhead mass communications senior from Wadena, Minn., has been awarded the university’s $1,000 Gerry Haukebo Endowed Scholarship for Study Abroad for the upcoming academic year.
Samantha will study the Japanese language and culture for a full year at Kanda University for International Studies (KUIS) located in Makuhari, Chiba City, Japan. KUIS is a privateuniversity dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in international studies, particularly in the areas of foreign languages, intercultural communication, Japanese culture, linguistics and international studies.
Martus, a graduate of Wadena-Deer Creek High School, is also pursuing a minor in East Asian Studies at MSUM, where she is involved in Japan Club, Korean Club and the Public Relations Student Society of America. She is the daughter of Karen Martus and Robert Martus.
