As the end of the year is fast approaching, we are taking the time to reflect on the past year. I feel it is important to celebrate the successes, embrace the challenges and reaffirm what athletics is trying to accomplish for our student-athletes, our university and our regional community.
The newly crowned 2010 Miss North Dakota is MSUM student Katie Ralston, a junior Communication Studies major. Her platform will focus on talking with school students about leadership. Last year’s winner was Tessie Jones, an MSUM Art and Design major.
The Minnesota Twins lost one of their most devoted fans when Marjorie Sheppard, 88, Arlington, Texas, formerly of Moorhead, Minn., died Friday, May 29, 2009, in Arlington. Marjorie was employed at Minnesota State University Moorhead for 21 years until her retirement.
The Clay County Historical Society and the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center are now officially merged to become the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County with a mission to preserve, interpret and celebrate the history and culture of Clay County and the region. An open house to celebrate this merger of two well established organizations has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a chamber ribbon cutting to take place at 4 p.m. It’s free and open to the public.
